Memento Morrie Book Talk
(approx 1 hour)
30 min talk, 10-15 min Q&A,  sell & sign books/ $300

“Learn how to live and you’ll know how to die,” is one of the wise professor’s aphorisms Morrie himself took to heart while opening the hearts of millions with appearances on the news show, Nightline. Morrie’s candor about accepting death as part of life has been a wake-up call to many people including Heather Pillar who collaborated with Morrie, pairing her photographs with his aphorisms to put together a show before Morrie died on November 4, 1995.

The 'Memento Morrie' book talk is about themes of what makes life worth living.  Heather talks about Morrie's influence on her life; how she came to know Morrie and how Morrie became an inspiration to people around the world.

'Memento Morrie: Images of Love and Loss' (Daylight Books 2024) contains 44 duotone images, 4 essays be renowned authors in their chosen fields and 7 of Morrie's aphorisms.

The Legacy of Morrie Book Talk
(approx 1 hour 20 minutes)
45 min talk, 20 min Q&A,  sell & sign books/ $600

Morrie’s son Rob Schwartz  and Heather Pillar sometimes speak together about their recently published books:

The Wisdom of Morrie  (Blackstone, 2023) is a profound and beautiful collection of Morrie’s previously unpublished writing on how to experience again as a positive, creative and connected experience, edited by Morrie’s son, Rob Schwartz.

Memento Morrie: Images of Love and Loss (Daylight Books, 2024) illustrates Morrie’s philosophies through photographs paired with captions about what makes life worth living.  Memento Morrie contains 44 photographs and four outstanding essays from professionals in their own fields plus short stories from interviews with Morrie’s friends and family.  Some images are paired with Morrie’s now famous aphorisms giving imagery to the bittersweet themes of end-of- life: building a caring community; friends; family; caregiving; self-care; spirituality; and death and beyond. The Memento Morrie exhibition looks great!! So many visitors are stopping in their tracks to take it in. I overheard a nanny talking to the little girl in her care, she explained "these are pictures of older adults. If we're lucky, we will get really old someday. When that happens grown ups need people to take care of them just like you need me to take care of you now." It was really beautiful!
